WATERWAYS:
Island Loikansaari is surrounded by clean and clear Lake Haapavesi, a part of the Lake Saimaa waterway system. The region offers the best opportunities for various forms of fishing all year round. The Loikansaari Cooperative Fishing Society fishing permit area consists of 1,400 hectares around the island. Average depth of the lake is 10–15 m, max 45 m. The fishing area’s strengths are versatile nature and fish stock.

In addition to the local permit, you will need a receipt showing that you have paid the state fishing license (all persons between the ages 18 and 65). LIMITATIONS TO FISHING:
Net fishing is not allowed in some parts of the area between 15 April and 20 June due to nesting of the Saimaa ringed seal. During this period of time, all fish traps must be equipped with bands preventing the seals from getting trapped inside. The smallest allowed fishing net loop size is 55 mm (lake trout, salmon, pike, pike perch) and 90 mm (bream). Fishing with nets with a smaller loop size will result in catching the above-mentioned fish before they have reached their reproductive size.

USING OWN BOAT:
The fishing society has a private boat launching site close to the Loikansaarentie road; this site is available for our customers to use. Based on a separate agreement, boat launching/lifting service is available.
